Dr Ruth Burrell
Dr Ruth Burrell is a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years of experience, and is skilled in assessing both children and adults for autism.
Dr Burrell previously worked with the Rushcliffe Community Mental Health Team, where she worked with older adults and provided psychological assessments for a number of mental health difficulties including chronic difficulties with anxiety, depression, trauma, and difficulties with life changes at this point in the lifespan. Part of this role also included assessment and treatment plans related to memory difficulties and dementia. Dr Burrell has experience of collaborating with patients across the lifespan and she works closely with patients, their families, and the wider team to ensure the best possible outcomes for her patients. Dr Burrell is ADI-R trained which is the gold standard clinical diagnostic instrument for assessing autism.
Experienced in a number of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for trauma (CBTt). Dr Burrell takes an integrated approach to working with clients, depending on their personal needs. She is creative and open to new ideas, bringing about positive changes systemically and therapeutically.
Dr Burrell has a wealth of experience working with patients with diverse presentations, including personality difficulties, depression, and anxiety, and has helped them cope with issues around gender, sexuality, and religious beliefs. She takes a sensitive, collaborative approach to working with patients that is mutually beneficial.
