Dr Praveen Upparige is a highly experienced Consultant Adult Psychiatrist, with endorsements in Rehabilitation Psychiatry and Substance Misuse. He has a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Science (Open). Dr Upparige is a Member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and is registered with the General Medical Council.

Dr Upparige has over 14 years’ experience diagnosing and treating Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Personality Disorder, Substance Misuse and is qualified to conduct autism assessments.

He is person-centred in his approach to understanding mental health conditions and incorporates personal life experiences in the formulation of clinical presentations. Dr Upparige is passionate about co-producing treatment plans and believes in treating patients as equal partners in the process. He focuses on recommending treatments which are evidence-based but personalised to the individual circumstances. His treatment recommendations incorporate pharmacological options and are influenced by patient wishes, current clinical presentation and past treatment response. He has experience in safe prescribing of anti-depressant medication, anti-psychotic medications mood stabilizers and anxiolytic medications either on its own or in safe combinations.
